Each year, Tyndale Choral Society presents at least two major concerts, a workshop and a Christmas carol service. A summer programme of light music is followed in November by the performance of a major choral work (complete with soloists and orchestra). The Director of Music, appointed in 2011 to succeed Ian Harrold, is James Atherton.
Principal concert venues include St Mary’s Church in Wotton‑under‑Edge and St James’ Church in Dursley. Weekly rehearsals are held in the Methodist Church, Dursley, on Monday evenings at 19:30; they run from March to July and September to December.
The society currently has 90 active members. A warm invitation is extended to all singers - a special welcome awaits tenors and basses! An apprenticeship scheme is available for young people and, periodically, coaching is offered in beginners’ and improvers’ classes. For regular audience members and supporters, a friends’ package is available.
The society holds a variety of social events and fund-raising activities throughout the year. Founded in 1959, we look forward to continuing our tradition of fun in music-making in the years to come.
The society supports South Cotswold Choral Group giving members an opportunity to participate in events requiring massive resources.
Please contact our secretary, Catherine Bennett, if you would like to receive further information, be included on our mailing list or join us (as a singer, concert goer or friend).
